we lucked out on our visit to shwedagon pagoda on thursday afternoon, which happened to be some of the most perfect few hours of weather all trip (that's not saying much, though). we walked the perimeter of the massive stupa and then sat down and people-watched for an hour as the circular promenade got more crowded and the sun began to set.
we watched and were watched, actually. but it couldn't have been more entertaining and relaxing and unique to yangon.
